"To be, or not to be..." is the opening phrase of a soliloquy in the "Nunnery Scene" of William Shakespeare's play Hamlet. But our life and living at Madhira are eons removed from Shakespeare. This wonderful quandary would more easily mean a mathematical term for the studious or a talk about bees and honey for the agrarian. I could not find one around us who understood this as an English phrase even though I asked those who are studying in English Medium schools and speak English
Parents want to send their kids to schools where the medium of instruction is English because they believe and rightly so that English will open the door of opportunities for them and therefore the entire family. Nonetheless, the beauty and depth of this language is lost on them.
