If you were to stop by the AMB Bungalow after some time away, you would notice quite a bit has changed. Within the past year, several additions have been made including a classroom/library, and expanded sewing center. The motivation behind these construction projects is to improve outreach and community involvement. The classroom/library has been used to hold pastor trainings, discipleship classes, and English language classes while the sewing center is used to give semi-literate women skills to support themselves and their families.
The latest addition was finished just a couple of weeks ago. In the past, cooking for large groups has been a bit of a challenge in the small kitchen. It was a long and drawn out 2 ½ weeks of construction often hindered by the weather, but IMPACT now has a brand new kitchen/dining area. This expanded kitchen not only allows people to move freely without working on top of each other, but it also makes cleaning and sanitation much easier.
The kitchen/dining area was inaugurated by a team of 13 from YWAM who came to do primary health care clinics in the villages. Whereas before, the team would have had to spread out into the sitting area, Sudheer's office, and the classroom just to find a place to eat, they can now spend their time together.
On the first day of the team's arrival, a welcome lunch was held that included not only the team and bunglow workers but also guests from the local churches. Before the new kitchen, this large-scale lunch would have required a rented tent pitched in front of the bungalow and a bit of planning and coordination. After the new kitchen, lunch was a breeze!
P.S. Do you have a skill that you can share with the people of Madhira and surrounding villages? You are invited to come join IMPACT as we serve. Do you not have a skill that you can share with the people of Madhira and surrounding villages? Come anyway, we can still put you to work. And now we have a large enough kitchen that we can keep you well fed while you are here.
